The underdog, Birmingham City, has won against Arsenal going home with Carling Cup in hand. Arsene Wenger‘s six-year wait continues after such unexpected situation.

The game was almost over and could have ended to a draw but Martins’ late clincher came through a defensive blunder between center-half Laurent Koscielny and goalkeeper Wojciech Szcesny.

Arsenal was ready to hold FA Cup after six years of not being able to do so. It was in 2005 that they last acquired a prestigious cup in football.

Birmingham City never gotten the trophy since 1963 and they sure looked the clear underdog when the match started that despite the absence of Arsenal’s Theo Walcott and Cesc Fabregas due to injury, Arsene Wenger’s men were able to dominate strongly.

It was Martins’, former Newcastle striker, who brought the crowd delirious after delivering a perfect goal a minute before the buzzer sounds. Even he couldn’t believe he brought victory to Birmingham; a series of somersaults said he wasn’t expecting such brilliance at a perfect time.

For Birmingham, they are worthy to lift the trophy after a perfect performance against their strongest opponent.

After a tragedy in the 89th minute, it was apparent in the faces of Arsenal that they are desperate enough to score another goal but the time left was not just enough to deliver another goal for equalizer.

The game ended as if the whole world fell for Arsenal while Birmingham City seemed like they were levitating for joy over their unbelievable victory.
