Liverpool Vs Manchester United Premier League Match Preview-Battle Of ‘The Reds’

Published on March 5, 2011 by   ·   No Comments

The English rivalry continues as Liverpool face off against the table toppers Manchester United in a match that will be vital for both teams.

A slip up from Manchester United could allow Arsenal to close their gap only to 1 point and the race for the Premier League will be wide open.

While Liverpool need a win if they want to secure a spot in the Europa League positions and maybe even Champions League spot although that seems more impossible from happening.

Kenny Dalglish will be going against Alex Ferguson for the 21th time as manager and the Liverpool tactician has only been able to defeat Ferguson in 4 occasions but his team needs a win now more than ever.

Possible Starting XI

Liverpool: Reina, Carragher, Skrtel, Agger, Cole, Lucas, Meireles, Johnson, Kuyt, Gerrard, Suarez.

Manchester United: Van der Sar, O’Shea, Brown, Smalling, Evra, Nani, Fletcher, Scholes, Giggs, Berbatov, Rooney.

Game Breakers

Steven Gerrard: Has not experienced the best of seasons with Liverpool but his ability is without comparison and Kenny Dalglish will be needing this player if he wants to climb some positions in the standings. If Stevie G, is in form he is a force of nature.

Wayne Rooney: If one word could explain what the Englishman is going through then it would be Inconsistency. Still being a shadow of his former self but in some matches making marvels of moves. Everyone can surely still remember his overhead kick that allowed United to defeat Manchester City, lets see if he can pull another marvel in this match.

Match Prediction

After suffering from defeat at Stamford Bridge United will be working hard to win this encounter but this will certainly not be a easy task to do. Liverpool last weekend played a match to disappoint and are going to improve but United will simply be too much for them.

Liverpool 1  Manchester United 2
