Some say the Italian side Inter Milan are going through a crisis and it can be evidenced by their Serie A campaign as they are entering the relegation zone in that tournament but it’s a whole different story in the Champions League as they secured the 1rst place spot with 9 of Group B and are strong favorites on advancing through the final 16 teams.

The first goal of the evening arrived with a through a rather unexpected source, as it was the defender Walter Samuel that scored with a header after a corner was launched into the own half of the French side Lille.

They would later get even further ahead on the lead when Javier Zanetti made a brilliant run on the opposition’s penalty area and finding Milito open that only had to score with an easy tap in.

At this point the match was 2-0 in favor of the Italians and previously to Milito’s goal the Argentinean already had wasted 2 golden chances on scoring. The scoreboard was not showing how the actual match was going through, as Lille and Inter both had their lion’s share of chances and possession as well but the hosts just managed to use better the only moments they had.

Things got really shaky when Thiago Motta made a disastrous mistake which allowed Tulio to score the 1rst goal and only goal of Lille. Nonetheless Inter stayed firm and managed to hold on to their lead and won 2-1.
