Manchester United visited Newcastle at the Sports Direct Arena with hopes of keeping up with the pace of the table toppers and rivals Manchester City but everything backfired for them as the hosts picked up a 3-0 victory over Sir. Alex Ferguson’s side.
Despite the control and possession that Manchester had against Newcastle they just couldn’t cope with Time Krul and the defensive line implanted in his own half. The locals took full advantage of the few chances they got which was evidenced by Demba Ba at the 33rd minute as he was the first to make his mark on the scoreboard.
Following the restart of the match and Cabaye scored an amazing free kick goal. His strike was from just over 20 yards and he still managed to lift the ball over the wall implanted by Manchester United with just enough power to get past Lindegaard and go inside the net.
The visitors responded with the addition of Berbatov as he replaced Welbeck, with the illusion of scoring goals through the veteran forward and maybe get a draw out of this outcome but things just did not go the way they planned as Phil Jones scored a own goal at the last few minutes of the games due to a confusion involving Lindegaard and the defender Jones which ultimately ended up with the youngster scoring in his own net.
