Chelsea claimed the FA Cup following a narrow and hard fought 2-1 victory against Liverpool as they played at Wembley Stadium.

Kenny Dalglish had decided to put Luis Suarez as the lone wolf upfront and having the support of Steven Gerrard in the midfield while Roberto Di Matteo started with Drogba as his main attacking man as he left Fernando Torres on the bench.

The match began at a rather slow and steady pace but as the time ticked down it was becoming much faster paced with counter-attacks flourishing on both sides. An error of Jay Spearing gave the opposition the opening goal as Spearing lost the ball in midfield which allowed the Spanish winger Juan Mata to slip a deep pass over to the rushing Brazilian Ramires as he was getting past Jose Enrique without much trouble at all and shot a low driven ball past Pepe Reina who really should’ve done a better job on denying him from scoring but the ball just slipped past him.

Both teams later exchanged quite a number of shots and efforts to get ahead on the scoreboard. Liverpool with Bellamy who was inside the penalty box of Chelsea and launched a thunderous shot but it was later blocked by the opposition.

The visiting side edge 1 more goal past Pepe Reina when Lampard picked out Didier Drogba in the penalty box of Liverpool and the Ivorian forward later launched a shot that went right through the legs of Martin Skrtel and into the opposing side of where Reina was standing.

Dalglish later went on replacing Spearing with Andy Carroll who would make a huge impact on the game just a few minutes later after entering the battle fray.

Andy Carroll scored a jewel of a goal as he was getting the ball past the defense of Chelsea and with just enough space to slam it into the top corner of Petr Cech’s net.

The 82nd minute arrived and things got heated up when Andy Carroll appeared to have scored a 2nd goal with a header but the referee did not allow the goal to be counted after replay was showing that Petr Cech had just barely blocked it from entering his net with a blazing reflex save.

It all came to an end with Chelsea holding on to their 2-1 lead and they claim the FA Cup with Roberto Di Matteo exalted with joy as he entered the pitch jumping around and hugging his players.
