Juventus completed this season’s Italian League with a undefeated record as they never lost a single match in this campaign but with a bittersweet taste as their legendary player Alessandro Del Piero bids his goodbye to Serie A.
The visiting side started off launching some very early warning shots into the net of Marco Storari but the goalkeeper did a superb job in denying the opposition’s shots. It was a fast paced game from the initial opening minutes and this was evidenced by the timing of the goals when Juventus scored 2 goals under 30 minutes.
Marrone launched a thunderous shot past the likes of Giorgio Frezzollini who failed to react in time and couldn’t deny the midfielder from scoring. Juventus nearly doubled their lead some minutes later when Simone Padoin combined with Del Piero at the edge of the box but only later the ball was later snatched away from them.
Alessandro Del Piero made his mark on his final game with Juventus with a trademark world-class goal as he curled the ball into the bottom corner of Atalanta’s net.
The 1rst few minutes of the 2nd half was controlled by Juventus as they had the upper hand on possession just waiting for the minutes to tick down. With 10 minutes remaining on the game Lichsteiner scored an own goal when he was trying to divert the cross of Bellini away from danger but only managed to score a goal in his own net.
Barzagli scored the last goal of this match with a penalty as they secured yet another victory but more importantly creating history becoming the 2nd Italian team on ending a season with no losses. It was already done by Ac.Milan in the 1994-1995 campaign.
