The Barcelona striker David Villa will not be traveling with his national squad and competing in the upcoming Euro 2012 following an injury spell that has kept him sidelined for over a month.
Vicente Del Bosque had already stated that he would wait 2 weeks before the European tournament actually started before making his decision in including the 30 years old striker in his squad but according to the Spanish club Barcelona, Villa will not be available by the time the Euro 2012 arrives.
The team doctor of Barcelona Ricard Pruna and his team suggested the striker to stay put and not participate in the competition which starts in June.
Villa in Twitter wrote: “I tried until the very end but I wouldn’t be able to be at 100 per cent for the Euros. I called the national team manager to tell him, it was the honest thing to do.”
“Thank you all for your support. I will keep on working to be back and play with Barca and the national team as soon as possible.”
This leave Vicente Del Bosque with a number of replacements available to play including: Raul, Fernando Torres, Soldado, Llorente, and Pedro as the main alternative players to fill in the boots of Villa.
