According to the Real Madrid defender (Arbeloa) the absence of Carles Puyol will be their biggest worry in the upcoming Euro 2012. Puyol went through a knee surgery back in May which will leave him out of the European tournament.
“[Carles] Puyol’s absence is quite painful. We all know his footballing qualities – he has great positional sense, he’s quick, strong and has good reactions,” the Real Madrid said in a press conference.
“Carles is the type who gives those around him lots of confidence on the pitch, and whose experience is vital. On and off the pitch his character is a plus for us.
“The best way to explain it is that those of us who are here will do our best to ensure that people don’t notice his absence.”
The tournament is scheduled to start on the 8 of June but Spain will have their opening match 2 days later against Italy in their group C which is sure to be one of the most entertaining encounters with these 2 titans going head to head.
