Andrea Pirlo gave Italy a lead at the ending minutes of the 1rst half through a beautiful free kick but Mandzukic leveled the match following a mistake of Chiellini which allowed the goal scorer to make his mark on the scoreboard.

With this result both sides earn 1 points which places Croatia at the top of Group C with 4 points while Italy picked up their 2nd point.
