Portugal Vs Netherlands 2-1 – Euro 2012 Highlights And Result – C.Ronaldo Edging Portugal To Quarter-Finals

C.Ronaldo finally made a worthy performance in the Euro as he scored twice pushing Portugal to the Quarter-Finals while Netherlands are getting an early exit from the European tournament.

The early stages of the game saw Netherlands having the better of possession having already the knowledge that they were in need of a clear victory in order to get into the knock-out stages and they came off strong with shots that forced Rui Patricio to stay at the tip of his toes from the very start.

They were rewarded fairly fast as Robben launched the ball into the path of Van Der Vaart and the Tottenham player made no mistake in curling it past the likes of Rui Patricio.

At this point of the match Portugal lacked the finishing touch needed to draw the game as they were relying mostly on the talent of C.Ronaldo but he failed on making the best of the chances that arrived to him.

Paulo Bento’s squad was characterized by their swift counterattacks lead by C.Ronaldo and Luis Nani as they were going all out down both wings and causing havoc over and over again until they managed to level the game at the 28th minute when Jetro Willems gave the ball away to Joao Pereira and he later slipped it to the Real Madrid player who slammed it into the back of the net.

Throughout the rest of the match, the Dutch struggled to get back into the game while Portugal were enjoying themselves with possession turning into their favor and just playing better and better as the minutes ticked down. A counterattack would give them their 2nd goal when Luis Nani lifted the ball over to C.Ronaldo and he doubled his side’s lead.

This result sees Netherlands getting knocked out of the tournament as they failed to win a single match in their campaign while Portugal qualifies along with Germany.
