Pedro Proenca will referee Euro 2012 final

Portuguese Pedro Proenca was appointed by FIFA to officiate the European Football Championship final in Poland and Ukraine will play on July 1.


UEFA announced that the Portuguese Pedro Proenca the referee will referee Euro 2012 final. The referee who judged this year and the Champions League final between Bayern Munich and Chelsea, FIFA officials is variant surprise as most experts expected the Englishman Howard Webb to be delegated to Italy-Spain final.

Pedro Proenca final will be helped from his fellow Kiev Bertino Miranda Cunha Ferreira and Ricardo Jorge Santos, further assistance will be Jorge Manuel de Sousa Moreira Neves and Pereira Duarte Nuno Gomes. Reserve will be Turk Cuneyt Cakir, and reserve nurses will always be a Turk, Bahattin Duran.

Pedro Proenca de Oliveira Alves Garcia is 41 and was born on November 3, 1970 in Lisbon. Since 1998 Portuguese referee matches in the first Football League and FIFA international referee since 2003. The first European refereed match took place in 2004 between AEK Athens and NK Gorica in the UEFA Cup for three years later to debut in the Champions League match PSV Eindhoven, CSKA Moscow.

In 2006-2007 was named “Portuguese referee of the year” award that he received in 2011. On May 13, 2012 was appointed to referee the Champions League final between Chelsea and Bayern. It’s a quiet guy who loves to read and write and who does not miss winter holidays skiing session.
