With the Premier League picking off in August, teams are preparing themselves through new players and pre-season matches with their rivals. Arsenal and Manchester City faced off in a friendly game prior to the upcoming season and saw the current champions Manchester City defeating Arsene Wenger’s side 2-0.
The 1rst half was basically a side to side match at this point with both squads trying to break the deadlock with a counterattack. Manchester City relying on the continuous surges of Carlos Tevez down the wings causing trouble over and over again to the defensive back line of Arsenal while Walcott was one of the more dangerous players for ‘’The Gunners’’ with his quick pace which managed to beat Pantilimon but his shot just slamming into the post.
Yaya Toure received the ball at the center of the penalty box and later tapped it to his comrade Pablo Zabaleta who blasted it into the opposing side of where the goalkeeper Fabianski was as he scored the 1rst goal of the evening. Only 3 minutes later and City turned the scoreboard 2-0 when a cross was sent into the penalty box of Arsenal and it arrived into the path of Yaya Toure as he was completely unmarked and unnoticed by the defenders which allowed him to tap the ball into the net with ease.
Arsenal worked hard in their search of the equalizer with a bright start on the 2nd half but despite all the substitutions made by Arsene Wenger, City held on to their 2 goal lead and picked up a morale boosting victory.
