The latest winners of the champions league played their 1rst Premier League match of this season with a visit to the DW Stadium in Wigan as they engaged on a side to side encounter but that ultimately saw Chelsea emerging victorious over Wigan Athletic with a final scoreboard of 2-0.

Both of the goals that were scored in this game arrived very early on the match. One of the most anticipated signings of Chelsea Eden Hazard made his debut on a phenomenal fashion after the Belgium player was at the charge of a counter attack and later slipping a deep pass to Ivanovic who was left with more than enough space to tap it into the back of the net.

Some few minutes later and Chelsea doubled their lead after Ramis had tackled down Hazard on the penalty box which resulted in a penalty that was later taken by Frank Lampard as the English midfielder scored with ease.

As the match continued on going throughout the remainder of the 1rst half, Wigan started taking control of the game with more and more chances developing mostly with Moses who was by far the better player of Wigan. Moses ongoing bursts down the wing caused some trouble against the defenders of Chelsea as they were on most occasions unable on stopping him but it was still not enough to get the ball past the likes of Cech who was at the tip of his toes and kept a clean sheet for the entire 90 minutes.
